It had to happen at some stage; mild calm conditions for running had to be replaced by rain and wind. Despite the poor conditions, 923 athletes completed the 10k course, regarded as the most prestigious event of its kind in the NI running calendar. With 2 and a bit laps of Ormeau Park and the Ormeau Embankment to be covered, the course is relatively flat. However, the wind and rain certainly made racing more difficult as evidenced in the slightly slower times recorded by athletes of all abilities. Continue reading
