Newcastle AC is please to reveal the races in the 2017 Hill and Dale Series. The 11 race series begins in Castlewellan on Thursday 13 April. This race and the following event in Tollymore are considered to be a gentle easing in for the athletes. Both races are within the confines of the forest parks and while there is invariably some steep climbing, these tend to be short and sharp. Navigational ability is not essential as these are marked courses where the runner must follow the prescribed route at all times. Continue reading

Hill and Dale Pizza Night

Band parade on in Newcastle tonight. Please try to be in Toscano tonight 7.45 sharp to avoid delays.
The H&D pizza night is a now annual evening for the club to say thanks to all who helped out at the H&D race series. If you are a member or know of a friend of Newcastle AC who helped out with marshalling, setting course, entries , time keeping, finish team, IT, traffic control etc you are very welcome to come along to enjoy complimentary food and refreshments.
The venue is the Toscano Pizzeria in Newcastle (Toscano have been a great supporter of Newcastle AC) evening starts at 8pm on Saturday 10th Sept with food served at 8.30pm.

Hill and Dale Race 11 – Drinahilly takes place on FRIDAY 24th June.

The entry fee will be a donation to charity. The series presentation will take place in O’Hares Bar Newcastle after the race.

** IMPORTANT NOTICE : Any runner who knowingly competes using another athletes race number, without a number or without registering at the start of each race will be banned from the Hill and Dale Series and all future NAC organised events.

Anyone not following this rule is putting others lives at risk.

The race organisers must know who starts and finishes each race, to ensure all runners are accounted for and no one is lost on the hills.**

Registration

Registration will open at 6:30pm and close at 7:20pm SHARP at the rear of O’Hares Bar in Donard Park.

Online Registration is NOW CLOSED.

Entries will NOT be accepted on the night if you did not register online.

Please remember if you collected your Race Number at a previous race, to bring it along to Race 11.

New Barcoding System

• All numbers must be worn on front of vest and not on shorts.
• Please try to pin your number on as flat as possible.
• Please do not fold numbers.
• At your 1st race you will be issued with a barcoded race number
• Always make sure your number is scanned before the start of each race, if you don’t you will not appear in the results and be disqualified from the series.
• Please ensure your barcode is visible and scannable at the finish line. Make sure your arms or hands are not in the way e.g stopping a watch.
• Look after your number, there is a £5 charge for replacement.

The use of barcoding and looking after your numbers is to help reduce the workload of the volunteers involved with the series. Thank-you for your support.
