Haugh breaks record and for the rest the only way is up
The last day in April brought along the 4th of the 2009 Hill & Dale Race Series. It was fine and sunny evening, surprisingly on the summit there was no wind. The team of summit officials were soon basking in the evening sunshine along with one particular “local tourist” with his top off as they waited for the runners to arrive.

3rd Winner as Eddie Hanna wins at Rostrevor

The 3rd race in the 2009 Hill and Dale Series took place on Thursday 23 April in Kilbroney Forest Park Rostrevor. Some say it is the least popular race in the series based presumably on the fact it follows the two most popular races, however records show that is was actually the 4th most popular race in 2008, with the least popular being the final Donard forest race with 118. This year the entry was again down on the first 2 races but up 14 from last year at 161.

Where is the Mountain Centre?

Welcome to a guest appearance from Bogboy. Over recent weeks and months pale imitations such as ‘bogusboy’ and ‘son of bogboy’ have lit up the pages with prose that only served to demonstrate that anyone can do this job – well almost anyone. It is quite hard to believe but it is already the middle of April 2009 and the year is more than a quarter over and two Hill & Dales of the 11 in the Series are already run.

Collins is the definition of excellence as Haugh continues to shine

Undeterred by the recent inclement conditions and the prospect of a cold and wet evening in Castlewellan, 189 brave souls registered for the opening race of the Newcastle AC promoted Up and Running Hill and Dale race series.  This magnificent turnout beat last year’s record entry by 20, testimony to the personal popularity of the ebullient race organiser.
