Juniors – New Email Address & Halloween Holidays

NJAC have a new email address it’s: juniors@newcastleac.org with immediate effect! Individual email addresses listed on the website remain unchanged. The old email address should work for a short time but better if you update your contacts now to be on the safe side!

Training will be on at Shimna College tomorrow night 7-8pm but there won’t be any training on Monday 31st October as Shimna is closed and all the coaches will be away trick or treating!

Congratulations to Eve Kenneally who ran in the Ulster Cross Country On Saturday and finished 11th to qualify for the All Ireland in November! GO EVE – we’re very proud of you.

McGrady Financial Services Junior XC Series 2016/17 – Race 2

The second race of the McGrady Financial Services Junior XC Series will take place at Dromore Leisure Centre on Sunday 16th October. To take part in the Series, athletes must be members of Newcastle AC, East Down AC, Burren AC, Dromore AC or 3 Ways AC.

ONLINE REGISTRATION is now CLOSED. It will reopen on Monday 17th October after Race 2. Full details of the series are available HERE.

ALL runners MUST register online. THERE WILL BE NO ENTRIES ACCEPTED ON THE DAY. You only need to register ONCE for Series.

NI and Ulster Even Age Group Cross Country Championships

We would encourage all Junior Members who are available, to attend the NI and Ulster Even Age Group Cross Country Championships race on Saturday 22nd October in Kilbroney Park, Rostrevor.

Registration is available online and closes Tuesday 11th October 2016 at 12noon. 

Registration on the day is from 9:30am and the race starts at 11:30am.

Exciting Opportunity to train with Kerry O’Flaherty!

Kerry O’Flaherty, who has just returned from competing in the Olympic Games in Rio, will be hosting a Cross-Country Training Camp during the Halloween school break – on the mornings of the 3rd & 4th November.

The Camp will be targeted at junior athletes aged 13-17 who have shown talent in endurance running events – for example at County Down, Ulster or Irish Schools level. The key objectives will be to help individuals think about what they want to achieve over the coming winter and how they might go about doing it. Continue reading →

We are delighted to announce that McGrady Financial Services will once again sponsor the very popular Junior interclub Cross Country Series. Dates for the 2016/17 Series are being finalised.

The first race will take place in Spring Gardens, Castlewellan Forest Park on Sunday 25th September. To take part in the Series, athletes must be members of Newcastle AC, East Down AC, Burren AC, Dromore AC or 3 Ways AC.

Junior Upcoming Events – September 2016

Hope you had a great Summer and are excited about a new season at Newcastle Junior Athletics Club.

Training will resume at Shimna College at 7pm on Monday 12th September. We hope to have training outside for a few weeks whilst the weather and the light holds so please dress accordingly.
