McGrady Financial Services Junior XC Series 2015/16 Race 3

The 3rd race in the McGrady Financial Services Junior Cross Country Series was held at Kilbroney Forest Park on Sunday 29th November 2015 at 1pm.  Burren Athletics Club hosted Race 3 out of 5, and there was a great turn out by competitors & their supporters, even with the stormy conditions.

The wind and rain were hitting the Newcastle registration jeep sideways, giving Pauline a tough task to keep the sheets dry for the race. The soggy ground made race conditions challenging, but the eager competitors braved the weather and completed their warm up with Burren’s coach. Continue reading →

NI & Ulster XC County Down team trials

Eve_1Eve_2Newcastle Athletics Clubs 12 year old Eve Kenneally recently qualified at the Northern Ireland and Ulster Cross Country trials to run for the County Down team in the Under 14 all Ireland  Championship which took place on Sunday.  The races held in Santry Park, Dublin saw a strong field of some 160 under 14 girls from all over Ireland taking part.  Eve, the only Newcastle Junior Club member to take part on the day finished 56th overall , the 3rd County Down runner to finish, with the County taking 7th place.

The late September sun prompted the dusting of the sunscreen bottles for the first race of The McGrady Financial Series 2015/16.  Newcastle AC athletes were again joined by East Down AC, Dromore AC, Burren AC and 3 Ways AC.  Over 200 runners had registered online and we had 171 of those rocking up on the day to join in the races and earn valuable series points for their club. McGrady Financial Services Junior XC Series 2015/16

We are delighted to announce that McGrady Financial Services will once again sponsor the very popular Junior interclub Cross Country Series. Dates for the 2015/16 Series are being finalised. The first race will take place in Castlewellan Forest Park on Sunday 27th September. To take part in the Series young athletes must be members of Newcastle AC, East Down AC, Burren AC, Dromore AC or 3Ways AC.

Online Registration is now CLOSED. Final race instructions will be emailed before Sunday.

ALL runners MUST register online. There will be an extra charge on race day for those who do not pregister which will go to charity. You only need to register ONCE for Series.
